Ogochukwu Ejiofor

Ogochukwu Ejiofor is a Nigerian artist, painter and poet, wrapped in one. Her paintings and installations make attempts at “writing her biography” rather metaphorically, using colour and canvas. Her works primarily explore the three stages of life: childhood, adolescence and adulthood as catalysts for paintings which border on her personal experiences as a girl-child who grew up in rural and urban Africa, specifically, the Eastern part of Nigeria. These experiences which she has gained over time, greatly influence her creative outlook on life.

Azeez Abiodun

Abiodun’s artistic practice is rooted in the abstract painting tradition passed down from his father. However, as he grew older and received formal training, he was exposed to a variety of techniques and styles including realism, impressionism and expressionism - all of which have greatly influenced his artistic vision.

He primarily uses palette knives to create textured expressive surfaces in his oil paintings. His objective is to simplify and invite viewers to interpret the imagery in his work through the use of lines, shapes, colours and contrast.

Korede Aremo

Korede Aremo’s body of work is a visual documentation of her thoughts, basically like a journal. They represent the journey of self and is inspired by conversations and shared experiences she has had and how those experiences translate in dreams, and in what we do as humans.

Despite working with acrylic, pencils and pastels, as well as digital painting and photography, she uses acrylic more often. The use of acrylic reminds her that life happens whether she wants it or not and things will never be how she left them.

Toheeb Ibrahim

Born in Ondo State, Nigeria, Toheeb Ibrahim is a young, exceptionally talented artist whose strength lies in his draftsmanship skills and creative use of colours. A fine and applied arts graduate of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife (2013), he also bagged a degree in Fine and Applied Arts, Adeyemin College of Education (2021).

Toheeb’s creative sensibility is directed towards using art to document activities that define his environment and the people in it. His paintings often interrogate human actions and inactions and their consequences as they affect the economic, political, and socio-cultural lives of society.

Idowu Emmanel

Idowu’s preferred subject and themes are illustrations that capture the African ancient synergy, exploiting and bringing to new life the rural and urban settlement occurrence of the African race both historically and in present-day context. His compositions are of African cultural settings such as ancient market scenes. At other times he attempts to reimagine these environments by juxtaposing images to form a whole scene or setting. He also makes illustrations on Yoruba folklore and folktales.

Esther Obiwuru

Obiwuru Esther is a Nigerian-based Artist who was born and lives in Lagos. She studied Art and Industrial Design at the Lagos State Polytechnic and between her studies, she did her industrial training at the Universal Studios of Art, Lagos.

Exploring figurative realism, Esther draws inspiration from her environment, thoughts, childhood memories, African beauty and way of life. She addresses the importance and intricacies of existing as a Black woman, portraying elegance and beauty in their local and traditional hairstyles.

Emmanuel Aderiye

Emmanuel Aderiye grew up in the South-Western part of Nigeria. Fascinated with figures and nature, he discovered his storytelling ability to showcase contemporary culture through the use of lines for human skin, while identifying with life’s green opportunities for the contemporary human. Through expressionist portraits and figure painting, he consistently bridges the gap between moral values, lifestyle and faith. Emmanuel earned his Bachelor of Art degree in Visual Arts from the University of Lagos, Nigeria, in 2016.

Rebecca Akindunjoye

As a female artist, Akindunjoye’s work is a celebration of mankind in all its beautiful variations. She finds inspiration in the kaleidoscope of human experiences capturing the essence of diverse cultures, genders and identities.

Through her art she aims to reflect the unity that binds us all while honoring the individuality that makes each person unique. This is greatly reflected in the movements of her embroidery works. In each strand of wool, she seeks to convey the power of diversity and the strength of our shared humanity transcending boundaries and fostering a more inclusive world. She creates art with decorative stitches, traditional embroidery and needlepoint using yarn and needle as a preferred tool on fabric.

Hassan Wasiu Sunday

Hassan Wasiu Sunday is a visual artist from Nigeria. He focuses on using his techniques in documenting various expressions using realistic figural images as his reference. This technique entails using acrylic and charcoal on canvas, along with neutral and complementary colours. He started painting professionally after he obtained a National Diploma in Fine Art in 2017 from Adeseun Ogundoyin Polytechnic in Oyo State.
